Default Sys light flashing due to aftermarket stereo

Ok, I know there has been many discussions regarding this procedure and I have a copy of the TSB 93-68-9A.

However, the TSB has a diagram that does not tell any wire colors to help with the process.

So, has anyone here ever done this?

If yes, please tell me the wire colors that I need to attach the resistors. Photos would help as well.

You did not say what year your car is. Perhaps this thread will be of some help.

Sorry I forgot to tell you it is a 1993:

I appreciate the link to the other post. I don't think it tells me the right wire colors though.

Gray/black stripe.

Purple/white stripe.

I connected the resistors to the 12v keyed radio power wire.

Did not take pix.

I have looked at the OEM radio that came with my vette. I actually bought the car with the aftermarket radio already installed so I was not sure what color wires were in the dash.

Fortunately the previous owner gave me the old radio and the plugs that connected the factory harness. In the box there were two plugs. One with 7 wires and one with 9 wires.

Upon close review of the plugs, I cannot find a gray with the black stripe or a purple with a white stripe.

The 9 wire plug has the following wire colors:
black
white
yellow
white
red
black
brown
blue
blue w/black stripe

The 7 wire plug has the following wire colors:
white w/green stripe
green
tan
gray
orange
white w/red stripe
dark red

So, what am I missing?

thanks chevyowner!

It really makes me uncomfortable that most of the information provided here and on other forums refer to different color wires. This post, http://forums.corvetteforum.com/audi...n-a-90-c4.html, had an owner that used the two wires you mentioned and seemed to have some difficulty. Not sure if it was related to the resistor modification or some other glitch, but it still makes me uneasy.

I suppose you have done this or have some intrinsic knowledge of the wiring to help me feel better about this. I just don't want to screw up and hurt my new baby.

I appreciate the wiring detail. I had the TSB but the additional information really clears things up.

I can finally get rid of that dang SYS flashing!!!!

I will post the results after this weekends event. Of course it will have to wait until after the Razorbacks game on Saturday! GO HOGS. Woo Pig Sooie!

sorry I know there are so many posts but its confusing. if anyone is still reading this. is this what we decided are the correct color translations in the 7 and 9 pin plugs in the back of the factory head unit. NOT THE CDM THE HEAD UNIT IN THE DASH

on the 7 pin connector
purple/white stripe = white/red stripe
gray/black stripe = orange
RUN THESE 2 VIA RESTISTOR TO AUX POWER KEYED.

once you put that in you can then remove the head unit, the speakers, the cdm in the rear console.
