Do transmission companies hate late model C4s?

I own a 91 with a 700-R4. While this trans has been rebuilt and beefed up, it will still never be as fun as a 5 or 6 speed manual. There's just no way! So, I have been looking for a bolt-on conversion kit. They have been advertized on this forum many times. Unfortunately, the all end up being like THIS!!!
Look like a great trans! Tons of fun, and it has all of the required extras like spedo calibrator, boot, shifter and hangers! Why is this irritating? 84 - 88. It's the same with every single place I've looked at. I haven't found one that is advertised for 89-96. I've e-mailed a couple of places, and never got a reponse back. I haven't e-mailed the above mentioned company, but I will to see if it'll work.

Has ANYONE done one of these conversion kits on a late model C4?

The kits are to replace the earlier transmissions 4+3 that were problematic with the overdrive unit. In 89 they started using the 6-speed. The M6 trans is pretty stout so why have a kit to replace it.

You could easily source all the parts off a newer C4 to get all your parts to convert to a 6-speed.

Actually, just after I posted this, I found a ZF6 for sale in the parts section

Thanks for that website though. Corvette fund is currently dry, but down the road it WILL be a manual.

I would buy a manual car and sell yours......C4's are going way too cheap these; you can buy a manual 89-96 for a about cost of the conversion to your auto

+1 - either drive as is or sell/buy. You can buy 2 C4 for what it is going to cost you.

I think it might cost more in Italy, But if doing this in the US, used parts would be cheap and easy to come by with frugal shopping!

A friend of mine converted his '89. I don't know the details, but his (now my) 700r4 is sitting on the floor in my garage waiting for a kit from Dana...

I'll be seeing him in the next few days and I'll ask him what he did.
