84 Hood Getting Stuck Closed

Is it a case of adjustment and/or lubrication or is it time to buy a new cable?
These have 17 various adjustments and should not be messed with until its a fact that adjustment is required...
if anything, adjust the cable at the latch box to pull the latch over so release is easier. The stop pins and the spring pin on the hood dictate how far into the latch the lock pin will go. If you adjust those too tight, it'll never release. Too loose and the hood may rattle but you can get it up.
This is definately where some experience would be helpful;
You can adjust so many things on the hood, cables, alignment, pins, stops that its easy to get AFU.
Just work with the cables nut style adjuster to open as easy as possible. New cables can be a challenge. Mine broke but I just put a new end on and adjusted the cable and how the latch lever acted.

I assume your prob is cables not releasing hood pin?

The problem was the drivers side (to me in Australia its the passenger side - rh conversion). I had left the hood down but unlocked as I have been working on the vehicle on and off over the winter. I found water had ingressed into the latch box. Probably a good 200 ml sitting in their from the winter rains. The hood pin was also a bit rusty and the cable adjuster is a bit bodgie and wasn't pulling the latch out all that well.
I have greased it all up and attempted to adjust the cable at the latch end. I then locked the hood. On activating the lever inside the cabin I do not get any hood pop-up but at least I can yank the hood up at the same time as the problem latch is on the same side (drivers side for lh drive veh). All good for now.
Thanks for the tips on the emergency release. May have to rig something up too.
Thanks again guys. I was getting very worried about not beng able to ever see my engine again. As it is a crossfire then maybe that's a good thing.

It isn't always the cable and when it ISN't the cable it is REAL bad.
This is what mine looked like when it "struck" .
Very sad story would follow but you don't really want to know.

Take ten minutes and check out the bottom side of your strikers/
