1985 700r4 to 4l65e?

It has the auxillary valvebody & many internal refinements not found in the 1984- 1986 C4 700R4 transmissions.
You could use your 1985 C4 trans, but I personally would not.
If you get the truck or SUV 4L65E transmission for $100 or less then remove all the geartrain parts & use it in a C4 700R4.
Only desired parts out of it.
Valve bodies are not interchangeable.
4L65E was electronic shift.
700R4's require no trans computer.
Only TV cable hookup.
The very best 4- speed overdrive transmission to build up I am told for very High Torque & HP applications over 1,400 flywheel HP is the
GM 4L80E transmission removed from a GMC P-30 Box delivery truck.
Like U- haul trucks with the Big Block Chevy 502ci V8's.
These installed 4L80E transmissions had straight cut front & rear planet gear carriers.
Like used in aftermarket power glide 2- speed transmissions for drag race cars pushing 3,000 horsepower running 6- seconds in the 1/4 mile or less.
Insight from my friend Jeff H. that builds transmissions for a living since 1987.
I am still looking for that BBC 502ci U-Haul truck that was wrecked or caught on fire & insurance totaled.
When I find it,
I will be out there with my Snap On tools & 18volt cordless 1/2" drive impact.
I will have that special 4L80E trans out in 20 minutes flat.
4L80E.
For backup or a future project.
Want the GMC P-30 4L80E behind the 502Ci V8 for all out high HP racing use.
Straight cut planet gearsets.
Lot stronger than standard helical cut gears.
That guy in your link aluminum welds nice.
saved himself $500 from buying the PATC C4 4L80E conversion kit with their tailshaft housing.
You have been clipping & cutting my posts since day 1.
I know you hate me.
I don't care the least bit by the way.

You suggested a solution to the OP's problem ;
I posted another member's post ( which most current members would not have seen) on
How to do it.
End of story
