Default C4 - Rear Suspension - Dogbones

This may not be the proper place, but I'll take a shot anyway. The dogbones on a 96 C4, or better yet, the bracket they mount into, at what angle is the bracket to vertical?

Ok, I see your faces with a big question mark; I am working on a 57 Nomad that may have had the rear C4 suspension improperly installed in its chassis. Your help is highly appreciated.

Doubt anyone here has actually measured it ( except Brian Cunningham for his CAD files) but you might be able to scale off this

custom Tri five chassis with C4 rear

So, does Mr. Cunningham share these CAD files? I would certainly like to contact him if possible. Could you give me his user name so I could contact him.

Many thanks for your speedy response.

I would contact Doug Rippie motorsports 1-763-477-9272 and ask them I'm sure they could tell you. They manufacture special trailing arm brackets to change how the rear suspension hooks up. I always thought that the trailing arm bracket was mounted straight up and down vertical.

Due to the length difference, that isn't possible for the distance between at the brkt. I'll look them up, thanks.

We had a discussion, about the rear suspension, a few years ago that had some dimensions in it

I just want to add that I came to believe that this GM C4 drawing was not the final 1984 suspension design, but an early drawing with the “Anti’s” set at 100%.
I took a tape measure to a corvette show and crawled around under C4’s (from 84 up to 96) and could not see any difference (within ¼ in) of the pivot locations from my own car.
If this is true, than it is a good case for GM thinking the CG was around 17 inches (16.9 + 17.3) / 2 = 17.1 inches. (keeping in mind I’m scaling from an image)

With that in mind, and the data from Mike Antonick’s “Corvette Specs” book.

1984 AntiSquat 51 % AntiDive 46 %
1985 AntiSquat 51 % AntiDive 46 %
1986 AntiSquat 62 % AntiDive 46 %
1987 AntiSquat 62 % AntiDive 46 %
1988 AntiSquat 62 % AntiDive 46 %
No data from later years.

I measures my AntiSquat angle at 6.3 deg divided by the 10.1 deg (from above) gives me about 62.38 % AntiSquat, which seams right on the $$$$

The difference between 1984 - 51 % and 1988 - 62 % would only be a degree in the pivot point measurements, which are probably masked by my tape measure inaccuracies (crawling around on my stomach under strangers cars)

In the first diagram it appears that the bolts that attach the dogbones to the bracket are parallel to the bracket.

In the second figure, it appears that the bolts are at an (inside) angle of 14.48 degrees off vertical (arctan[1.55/6]).

So my guess is that the bracket is at the same angle of 14.48 degrees.

That's just my calculating from the diagrams-- have never actually measured it, so I don't know for certain if that is the correct answer.
