Rear Coil Over Shock Sugestions on C4 Solid Axle Conversion Home Brewed
I have my 4-Link rear suspension basic kit with Chrome Moly Tubing & chrome moly rod ends & all axle & front 4-link mounting plates.
Need suggestions on Rear coil shocks & spring rates to use on my solid axle conversion for my 87 Vert ( Z52 car).
Love drag racing but spend 99% of the time street driving 1st.
Ride & handling qualities are important.
Spent some time this evening reading C4 archives.
many recommend a soft rear coil over spring rate & firm shock valving.
Looking for the best of both worlds if possible.
Many Corner burning suspension experts here on C4 & drag racers with more knowledge & experience in this area than myself.
My 4- link kit came with 8 pages of installation directions>>>
Thanks Guys,
Brian

old, old , old school usta be soft springs and stiff shocks, theory was that the shocks were easier to adjust/tune the car side to side, using the weight of the car to plant the tires. sure its changed by now.

LOL.
Solid Live Axles still work in Rear Wheel Drive performance cars too.
You are the only other person on Corvette Forum that ran a 1957 Pontiac Rear diff when drag racing.
Attempting to in my 87.
Just have to be different.
I spent way less on my top notch 4- link kit than quoted a few months prior for $2500.00 & would have bought way less quality.
Get pics up this weekend later.
Tired & lazy tonight.

brian,if your going to street drive your car 99% of the time i would get rid of the moly rod ends, and use these from art morrison.have replaced many chrome moly rod ends with them for street cars ,people are shocked how much quieter thier cars are.have used the best mil spec rod ends you can get and they all make noise.

If the clanging noises become too much,
I will try out the street version of the Art Morrison rod ends.

Brian, the morrison rod ends are wider then a heim joint so just replacing them later is kinda hard to do.i would set the 4-link bracket widths for the morrison rod ends now,and just add a spacer on each side your current rod end.if you can find out the diff in widths of the rod ends i could make you some spacers.

I thought about spacers made too to use with the supplied rod ends I have.
Then if want later,
I can use the Art Morrison Street rod ends.
Have to complete Sammy's C4 Dana 44 1st.
Waiting for the Brown UPS truck to show up with the last of parts I ordered & need to complete his Dana 44.
Thank You for your help Mike.
