How difficult is it to replace the IAC and TPS on an early '86 L98 iron head? Are there any problems I should expect to encounter? Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW, if anyone needs OEM parts, call Jeff Kopp at 800-728-8267 (18carfan). I have gotten the best prices and service from him on many purchases of OEM parts.
I believe the P/Ns are same as on my '88 TPI. My method of R&R is on my site.
Once you remove the IAC be sure to clean inside the bore (I use cotton swabs with carb cleaner) and use a mirror and light to be sure all carbon and debris have been removed.
Also service the TB plates & bore but here use only TB cleaner.
Unless you found a flat spot in the TPS you may only need to adjust it.
