Default LT-4 HotCam Stuff.....

Guys,

I've got the opportunity to buy the following off of an 11,000 mile motor that was pulled to go bigger. Good deal? What kind of gains could I expect on my pretty much stock LT-1. Currently the car has NGK TR5's, Taylor wire, cut lid, K&N, and a B&B TriFlo exhaust.

LT4 Hotcam - $75
GMPP 1.6 rockers- $100
LT4 valvetrain- $50

Sounds good to me (for used parts). I paid $150 for my GM 1.6 rockers, $200 for my LT4 cam, and i'm not sure what is included in the "LT4 valvetrain".

Some have complained that the LT4 springs aren't all that good. I have no experience personally. I plan on doing the Hotcam myself. Just know you can get the cam for $170 new, RR's can't be had for a better price then you have found without stealing them I think......Sounds good though. Figure on gaining about 30-45 hp, but ECM changes need to be made to keep the hotcam idling correctly in an automatic.
Oh yeah, doesn't the LT4 rockers have 10mm stud diameter requirement, but the LT1 studs are 3/8ths?? That requires a change over. Something to look into...... :seeya

My studs worked perfectly. And my LT4 springs are working perfectly as well. Yes, you MUST do ECM work if you're putting a hotcam in an auto. TRUST ME... you won't be able to stop at lights without it stalling (or almost stalling).

Sounds good to me :yesnod: I would buy new springs though. I've also heard the LT4 springs weren't that great. Someone in Gafba had a 93 Z28 with a HOT and didn't program it. The car was running fine. However when you do get a chance I would have ACD or someone burn a program for you.

I just put the Comp Cams 986 "Dual valve springs" in my car - they work great!

oh yeah, forgot i have more cubes.. haha. Yes, you might be able to get away with it for a little while.. but you really should re-program it.
