Default Throttle Body Questions

With my mods listed below, would the 58mm TB offer anymore gains or response than the 52mm. Can/should the intake manifold be ported to match with the 58mm. Is there any reason not to do this vs. the 52mm tb?

Thanks,
Jason

a 52mm wont even do you any good really, so a 58 would be worthless

I have read stories of people adding the larger TB and the car running worse than before. I havn't tried the setup myself though.

I take it the money would be better spent on roller rockers?

Thx,
Jason

I added a 52mm TB when I ported my plenum because the target is in the high 300s hp wise and it will be useful up there. It won't hurt with fewer mods and you may get alittle better throttle response. But for $300 you won't notice much if any gain.

Thanks for the input. Off the topic, I just added the flowmaster and was wondering, as loud as they are, do I need the lt4 knock module?

Thx,
Jason

With headers I would put the LT4 module in.

I assure you that the 58 TB will do nothing for you. A 52 did nothing for me with headers, flowmasters, improved intake and a cam. So the 58 would be absolutely useless.

Everyone has their own opinion and most responses will probably be just that.

Mine is that a 58mm TB is a waste of money and my guess would be that you would lose performance.

I am running a 222/230 cam, 215 heads, hooker long tubes, TPIS mini ram, and 30# injectors on my 396 and its doing great with a 52mm.

My opinion comes from my dyno graphs that shows me a 4 hp loss with the 52mm throttle body.

Now it was a different dyno on a different day, so I can't say for sure if the loss was caused by the TB, but there certainly wasn't any gain.

Thanks for all the input. I think I'll go with the rockers.

Hi. Where can I get the module? IRS doesn't have them, neither do Ecklers or MAD from what I could see.

Thanks,
Jason
