Flowmaster question
My son has a '92 coupe. He also has an '88 GTA with an 80 Series Flowmaster
and would like to install Flowmasters on his vette. However, Flowmaster does
not make "mufflers only" for the '92 - only catback systems. They do make '91
mufflers and I would like to know if anyone has fit these on a '92 - I can't
imagine why they wouldn't fit unless there is something particular to the LT1
vs L98... :rolleyes:

My son has told me about resonance with his GTA... but he really likes the
deep powerful sound of the 80 Series Flowmaster - he is not looking for a
"loud" sound. I would imagine the elminators are much louder than the
flowmasters - don't they also create a (lack of) back-pressure causing a
problem for the ecm's sensors?? :crazy:

Ok, well i had the 40 series which are known for really bad resonance. Yes, I like the VERY deep sound they offer, but the eliminators sound fabulous. Ok, enough saying eliminators.. i don't like that term :D. The straight pipes are louder for sure and mine is really loud because i have no cats right now :). As far as backpressure, I've been told that the length of the pipes going all the way to the back is enough back pressure.. and i have enough torque with my 383 that I don't need to worry about it.

The question you really need to ask is it a auto or a 6-spd? If it's an auto the resonance will be pretty bad. If it's a 6-spd you can drive around it and it really sounds mean. The 80 series if pretty much an f-body only item with it's single in, dual out, sideways mounting. You can put 2 flowmaster 40 series offset in center out mufflers on your 92 without any trouble.
You might try the "Delta Flow" series, they are supposed to still sound very mean but cut down on interior resonance.
I've got some sound files in my sig, but be warned these are louder because I am running headers and no cats.

I've got 3 chamber flows on my 90. They make 2 or 3 chambers for 91's which are the same for 90's. I like them. There isn't too much resonance at all.
