Default Rear end rebuild

Just so I know, how long does a differential last? I'm almost 100% positive nothing has ever been done to mine. 135k miles. Is it best to leave it alone, or should I plan on a fluid change in the near future.... or possibly even a rebuild?

If I were you, and was still in school, I would change the fluid and let it go for now. With the engine mods you have, when it becomes necessary to rebuild, or upgrade the gear ratio, then I would go for a dana 44. But IMO changing the fluid is a good idea. It can help with the clutches in the diff.

If you start putting really sticky tires on it, your days are certainly numbered. Change the fluids and save your money for a D44 swap. :seeya

No sticky tires going on my car until I get a new diff :). I know that I'll break it. It's my destiny to break things on my car. I'll see about changing the fluid over summer then.

This isn't like a transmission, that there's a possibility it could shorten the life of the gears, is it?
