I'm having some trouble trying to find replacement CR2450 batteries to fit my PKE FOBs (yes..both of them are OEM).
A few years back I tried several brands and could not find one that fit and gave up. I just went to the GM dealship recently and asked them to try..but their battery woudn't fit either and we're basically like - oh well...good luck. So, needless to say, I was not very happy with their "customer service".
Has anyone found a brand that fits? My experience so far is that brands I've tried are bit "fatter" at the top and have to be forced in and don't seat properly and pop out.. I also didn't see the goorve either.
Thanks for replies everyone, but jJust went to Radio Shack and tried and it doesn't fit. It's the same issue I've had with every other 2450. It doesn't "snap" into place like the original. The original battery had a small recessed lip aroun the top of the rim that allowed it to fit. No matter how much I try and jam it in, it pops back out. Confused on how all of you are able to make it fit.
Not sure if this will work for you, but will toss it out there. First time I replaced the battery in my key fob it worked fine for a few weeks, then stopped working. Thinking the damn battery had died again I opened the fob up and again replaced the battery, two weeks later again it quit working. This time I tested the battery and it still had well over 3 volts, snapped it back in and the fob worked.
At that point I realized that over time the battery lost contact with the terminals. Worn terminals in the fob, redesigned batteries, who knows why????
My solution was to apply a small piece of sticky back foam tape to the battery, the foam is thick enough that it applies pressure on the battery when the fob is closed keeping it in contact with the terminals. That solved my problem.
The tape is available from many auto parts stores, Home Depot etc., commonly used for weather strip repair, link here showing what I used.
Still on a quest to find a solution. I did try using the smaller CR2430 and with a metal washer (from Menards) underneath it and it was the closest I could come to getting a battery that would fit and make contact. However, it doesn't last very long - maybe the washer is draining it.
As a long shot, I tried to force the issue at Chevrolet Customer Care to see what they would say or do, but as expected, they said too bad - go buy a new remote.

Anyone been able to find a solution?
I'll say it again, Radio Shack has the CR2450 battery that fits.
The CR2430 you mention is not correct.
I have used the Radio Shack CR2450 more than once and they fit just fine.
If they don't fit in your FOB, then perhaps the contacts in your FOB are not aligned correctly.
I used the one from Radio Shack, too. None of them fit like you'd think. It didn't "snap" into place. It sort of wedges in there and will come loose easily until you put the back on. The battery is too thick to fit under the lip in the fob like it looks like it should. I finally slid it under the lip and left the opposite side sticking up very slightly and put the back on and it is working fine. The gold colored "paint" around the lip is the conductor for one of the contacts. It's not easy, but I know the Radio Shack battery will work, it's pretty expensive at about $8. Next time I'm going to try to find one cheaper.
I have 3 PKE FOB that i had the battery replaced with Panasonic CR2450 from the ''dollar store'' and all of them fit and work well...They both only slide in they do not snap. As the dealer said, good luck!
This doesn't make sense to me. These batteries are a standard size and any brand ought to work. As I said before, 24.50 mm diameter. Also the "50" part means 5.0 mm thick. The manufacturers of these cells don't want to make a non-standard size because their market would rapidly disappear.
That said, they are your fobs and we can't see what you're seeing. Do you have a coin cell that actually fits (like an old dead one)? Is there a marking in the fobs that says "2450"?

I really don't think all "coin cell" batteries are equal. The use in C4 FOBs comes up regularly. I don't have one so I don't know but I believe the battery for the C4 needs the ridge to slip under a plastic retainer.
Here's a pdf for the DuraCell DL2450 and you can find CR2450's everywhere that don't seem to have that ridge. Don't know but I've seen the same complaint for many years - maybe 10 or more!
I've also seen a reference to a CR2450N battery (just today) where a CR2450 wouldn't work and the CR2450N would. There's those that say a CR2450 battery is a CR2450 battery BUT apparently it "just ain't so"!!!
In a former life I was an electronic engineer, so I spent a LOT of time downloading data sheets for various components. From what I see, all of them have the same shape and dimensions. Maybe there's a variation?
Here are a few for your amusement and edification:

And like I mentioned the "N" version has a substantially greater specified height dimension for the "smaller" OD of the cell resulting in a lip that allows it to catch in devices that require a more secure latch. See the "Renata" !!
