I know this could be posted in another section, but because I have a lot of friends on this forum I'll post this here. Hopefully the mods will be tolerant. Just got back Monday morning from 5 days of racing at the Division 7 finals of the Summit Racing Series. Towed the 84 from the Bay Area to Vegas (600 miles). The car ran great and the driver for the most part wasn't bad. The first part of the race was the gambler's jackpot. The non electronics bracket had 200 cars. I made it to the final 2. The car ran on it's number 3 of the runs. The first 3 rounds, I had lights of .007, .008, .005. after 7 rounds I was in the finals and fell asleep after hot lapping at 102 degrees. I can't use the conditions as an excuse. My opponent was just as hot and cut a .002. I did collect $1750 though which helped pay for a great buffet with a few racing buddies. I went out 2nd round in the race of champions and 3 round in the Summit series race. Unfortunately, Infineon finished 2nd to Vegas in the Summit Series. My goal was to go at least 2 rounds in each race and not go out first round and go home. All together I had 13 races and won 10. It was a good weekend. Willie
Congrats Willie !! That's some darn good racing and those are box racing type lights !! (You are racing (no-box) Pro class I would imagine ?)
I raced in the Division 7 finals in Vegas many years back (I was on Team Pomona's last Summit team)..... great city for a race ! I'll be back to racing the Summit series this coming year now that my car is back running.
Buddy of mine has won the Division 7 roc race 2 out of the last 4 years in Sportsman..... but went out early at the final in Pomona. But, I'm confident he'll probably make it back to another final or two before he's done.

.00 lights with no box and never went red Killer RTs. Really had it together dude. I'd pay for lights like that. Congrats on a great weekend.
I went red twice over the weekend. Fortunately on both those runs my opponent also went red but I was the faster car. He who reds first goes home first.

I might have seen you in Vegas years back but didn't know you from adam. This is our third trip to Vegas for the finals. Last time was 4 years ago, and prior to that probably another 4 years. Next year the finals will be in Bakersfield (ugh). I'm on the fence on that one. I raced the finals there a few years ago and still have red Bakersfield dust inside my car not to mention the flies and smell from the compost plant across from the track. Willie

I hear what you are saying.... when I lived in California, there was a debate on why not just have all of the Division finals in Vegas versus the rotating thing or whatever they are doing.
Last time I raced Bakersfield, I think it was the hottest day of the year in August, thus that fruit orchard, or whatever it is next to the track was in full fermentation mode, the stench was almost unbearable. However, I have heard they improved the track including a track resurface.... but not sure what they can do about those orchards.
The dust at Carlsbad & LACR was worse..... Carlsbad had a mile long rocky rutted dust/gravel road as the entry road and LACR was a track built smack dab in the middle of a Million acre sandbox. You'd have to take 2 showers to get the grime off your body after a day of racing them. And yet, I loved racing both tracks.... go figure.
