Default Cigarette lighter removal

How do I remove the cigarette lighter base assembly from the plastic center console assembly. I have dismantled the center console and disconnected the wires leading to the lighter base. How do I split the lighter base to remove it from the plastic?

Can't say for sure, normally for lighters the back side sleeve unscrews from the socket.

...just unscrew it - the main lighter base has a screw on sleeve on the rear.

I just went through this the hard way. The back half you normally do not see is threaded over the part you stick the lighter in. So unplug it, grab back half and turn counterclockwise while makeing sure front part does not turn and it should separate in two parts.

I only figured this out after I removed the nut you can see down in the lighet socket and the thing came totally apart. In the end it worked but not necessary.

Thanks C4GUY, you saved me on this one. I was planning on doing what you did. Saved me some time.
