I have a 1984 and replaced starter it shorted out but its ok

Fusible links are behind the battery. There should be a power distribution block with a flock of red wires.
Fuse links are essentially pieces of wire designed to melt.....slowly, unlike fuses. They power motors which tend to suck a lot of current.
They can be bought for small $$$ at almost any auto supply.
thanks all that replied i finally wired around key switch and put in a
push button switch to my suprise it also brought back my rear window
release and power windows thank goodness all i need to do now is
put in a kill switch just got the car and i think a teenager messed with
the wiring nothing ele. behind battery the car was modifed for drag
racing
