clutch changed, overdrive not working now
i have a 1984 which i recently changed the clutch in. during that process i had dropped the pan for the OD unit, i changed the filter and the fluid along with it. today before i left the shop i had filled the OD unit up completely. i went for a test drive, noticing that when i hit the OD switch on the console it didnt kick into overdrive, not did the light come on. after searching the forums for possible answers ive come to a couple conclusions. ive read that if the unit reads low pressure it will disable it. could it just be that i need to add more fluid since i have drove around and the fluid has circulated through the system? or could it be something along the lines of a electrical connector or a relay?
im going to the shop tomorrow morning to see if it needs more fluid and to check the above mentioned items. any advice would be greatly appreciated!
By default , the O/d is automatically engaged by the ECM when right conditions are met unless driver over rides ECM by use of the switch
Light shows power " available" on solenoid side of O/d switch;not that O/d is actually engaged
Check 1st gear switch and O/d switch for correct operation
