I recently thoroughly flushed out my power steering reservoir, lines and rack and replaced the fluid with a high quality synthetic fluid. The system has no leaks and is working well, but occasionally the pump has made a wirrrring sound.
Yesterday while on the Interstate for about an hour the pump noise got pretty loud, but has now stopped making noise and appears to be working okay.
Might the pump noise be from the synthetic fluid's cleaning properties or is the OEM pump about to kick the bucket. Again, there are no leaks or abnormal noises now and the system is working fine currently.
