Does anyone here know if an LT1 out of a 93' Vette will work in a 95' Z28 vert? What changes are needed to do this. FYI, the LT1 in the Z28 is toast. :(
well a '93 uses a speed density setup instead of mass airflow measurement.. they have different computers..
but you could use the bottom ends just the same i think.. only differences are in the intake and computer..
:yesnod: Use an F-body water pump housing and computer, you'll be fine. Unless you were transplanting the wiring harness from the 93, everything will work just fine.
The block and heads will work fine. Some sensors may be in different spots, but I think they all match. The intake is different so you would need to reuse the one from the Z. Should work pretty good.
Another thing to mention. The '95 Z has the updated optispark so you will want to swap quite a few things off the front of the Z to put on the Vette LT1 if it is from the '93. May be worth looking for an LT1 motor that uses the later style opti.
Headers and exhaust are more restrictive on the camaro. Get aftermarket ones. This is one of the ways GM make the same motor slower in the camaro so the vette would be top dog.
on the note of different optisparks or later model ones anyhow.. the camshaft dowel pin in the front may be protruding with a different dimension than necessary.. when i put an lt4 hot cam in my car the instructions said to leave one amount of protrusion for early model opti's and another amount for later model.. so measure the dowel pin depth on the camshafts and compare..
