Hey Guys....I'm helping a friend with his 93 LT-1 which is having an over heating problem. I'd like to locate a chip for his ECM that will turn on his fans at a lower temp. The car is bone stock so there isn't a need for any further tuning.
Does any one know where to buy one who who does this service?
Thanks..

The lower fan turn on won't help if it is truly overheating.
Mine came with a hypertech chip and with the stock rad and lower fan on temp I still saw 250+ water temps.
When I replaced the rad with a dewitts I rarely saw 220, mostly 190 - 210.
Even with the 383 and hot summer track temps after a 20 min session 220 has been the max.
If you are seeing 240 at idle in traffic with both fans on - its time to clean/inspect or replace the radiator.

my money is on time for new radiator new...
mine runs a tad warm also, next summers project i think.
Take the radiator out and clean it. Dont power wash it, just get all the crap out of there. Also, check that the fans are truly coming on, and at what temp by watching the gauge when they come on.
These cars are bottom feeders and the stuff that gets jammed up in the top of the radiator is amazing sometimes.
I had a cigarettes carton, empty, jammed up there.
Also, check that the thermostat works. Its an old car.

I would do the basics first.
Yep..I've replaced the thermostat, surge tank cap, flushed the system and installed new antifreeze (green GM spec 1825M , 50/50 mixed with distilled water.) I figure the next stop is the radiator. I will check though as to fan operation. Kicking on the A/C does turn on both fans..
I vote for trash between the A/C condenser and radiator. Take the top shroud off to clean. Be careful. I cracked a connection to the condenser by being too enthusiastic about poking my vacuum cleaner down in there and pushing the condenser around to get all the little bits of trash out.
My trick: I cut the bottom of the shroud where the radiator hose goes and where the trans cooler lines are. Now I can take the shroud off without disconnecting anything.
I put some 3/8" thick foam weatherstrip under my condenser and the last time I took it apart there was only one leaf in there.
I once found a package of two cupcakes with one cupcake still in the package in front of my condenser. I don't see how it got up in there, given the weight of the cupcake.
