Default auto trans adjustment?

Hi Folks,
I am about to drop the pan on my '96 to change the ATF. Are there any adjustments I can do while I am in there?

I dont know what do you mean by adjustments , but you only have to get rid of the old oil , buy a new gasket ,new filter , close the pan and fill the new oil.

Many automatic trnasmissions have an adjuster inside the pan that tightens the bands to compensate for wear. To do this you have to know how tight to make the adjuster. Sounds like maybe this one doesn't have that feature.

I'm not sure if the owners manual say something about that, just put the right fluid in there and that's it.

the band in your transmission is controlled by electronic solenoids.

you don't have to adjust anything.

Not sure but I don't think the 700R4 or the 4L60 or the 4L60E has that feature. I think the best you can do WITHOUT a teardown is to put a shift kit and maybe adjust the spinning thing that has influence on the shift point. You can have a different TC but is it wise to stick an expensive TC with a used trans? I don't think so. If you get a Precision Industries unit and the trans fails within 2 yrs, you might be ok since they will do one free restall and clean but if not, IIRC, it was about $400 all said and done to cut it apart, clean it, weld back and balance

Thanks guys, different topic. What is the best source for discontinued parts? I wanted to replace all the coolant hoses, but found many are no longer being made.

There is nothing to adjust inside of your 1996 C4 4L60E trans with the pan removed during normal filter service & fluid changes.

The 2-4 band is non adjustable.
Adjustments are only during rebuild time.

You swap out the 2-4 servo pin for a longer or shorter length as required.
Or I custom made a specific length 2-4 servo pin for my own 700R4 during blueprinting on my South Bend lathe.
