Thanks for the pic STL94LT1. I don't have the braces either. I wonder if you can clear something up for me though. In the pic, I see two braces bolted at the same point on the header. Is that second brace (the one that you cannot see the other end) the one that cannot be used with headers, and if so, why? Like I said earlier, the headers were installed on the car before I purchased it, so I'm not sure what goes where. I'm back to stock headers and would like to put everything back.

^^^ Good catch. It's been a few years since I last had the car apart, and I was wrong about the a/c support braces. With a little help from a grinder they both can be used. It was the alternator brace that I couldn't use with the headers.

Just removed the ASR so you could get a better look at the braces.

Found the two braces at vette2vette. Ordering them tonight. They don't have bolts, so I will have to figure that out when I get them. I will update after install. Below is a schematic from vette2vette:

Great , I'm waiting for you. I'm too bored to work on this , because everytime I get different answers , and it's too hot these days

today someone told me that it might be bad engine mounts

If not the braces, I would lean more towards harmonic balancer.

I just checked my car. It has NO support brackets on the compressor and the whole compressor VIBRATES when I rev it to 2300 rpm with the A/C on. I think this is the problem...missing support brackets.

Csthews, I think those brackets will fix it. Let us know what happens after you get them on. If it fixes it, I will be ordering those brackets too. Thanks.

Finally got a chance to put the braces on today. Took it for a test drive....NO VIBRATION!!!!!!!

Thanks for the help...especially STL94LT1 for the pics.

btw...had to find some bolts, nuts and all-thread. Pretty easy, since everything was 3/8-16.

Interesting post...I noticed the same issue with my 93 once I got the a/c working a couple weeks ago. It vibrates around the 3k - 4k range with the a/c on ONLY.

I'll look at my brackets, but im pretty sure when I did my headers I retained both brackets from the a/c. Either way, this is a great post. Thanks for the info guys!

Bought the braces from vette2vette.com. I had to unbolt the compressor and move it out back in order to install the inner brace. I also took the cover off the ASR to give me a little working room down there.

Well I checked mine last night...As I thought, I do have both braces on mine.

Not sure why is still have the vibration like you guys do. However I did notice I'm missing the bolt at the top of the ac compressor bracket. It can be seen in STL94LT1 picture above in the top left corner.

My guess is this has something to do with it.

Could very well be. It's a quick cheap thing to check. The bolt is 3/8-16 x 3/4". You can get one from Lowes or Home Depot.
