Re: First time going to the track (robblk90)
My advice would be DON'T race your very first time at the track. There is to much info you must digest before your ready to race. Go and watch, see what the other drivers do, and copy them. Walk the staging lanes and talk to others driving Corvettes and make them your new best friends. They will be glade to teach a newbe the ropes.
After you've done all the on your second trip to the track you'll be ready to race.
Good luck, John

I agree with John. Though you've street raced the strip has some procedures and protocols to follow too.
Unless you're going with someone who will walk you thorough it, go there and check out the setup: see how the officials manage things, find out where are the turn offs after the traps and the time shack is located, where is "tech" located and what are their requirements; basically get a "feel" for how things are done and yes talk with other drivers.
Thanks John. I plan to go next weekend just to do that. I want to watch everyone else and see what they do. I don't plan on winning every race because there is always a faster more consistent car/driver. I am just going for the fun of it and to see what my car will do and then go after a few mods are done to see where the car is at. Being a stick shift I don't plan on dragging it alot. Thats for the next vette(auto) ;)
John and Jim have given EXCELLENT advice. I went way back in 1992 with My Mustang GT. I just pulled in and went for it..never watched. I staged with the rear tires...went before the tree came to Green(Still have that problem) :D...all sorts of stuff I shouldn't have done, I did the first time. Second time was MUCH better seeing I watched, knew to stay in it past the scoreboards etc.
If my luck wasn't so crappy with breakage...I'd go a lot more often. The rush is almost un-beatable.
