Engine Actully Running 12V indicator lead available?
Hi Folks,
I have a car alarm installation question. This alarm has remote start. I need a lead that turns +12 Volts when the engine is actually turning and drops to 0V if the engine stops running but if the ignition is still on. I need to prevent remote cranking while the engine is running, which would be obviously very bad.
I tried using the "L" lead marked coming out of the alternator, but it did not have any voltage when the engine was running according to my volt meter.
Any advice?
This is 90 auto vert.

SWAG.
An extra oil pressure light switch may work as a ground source for a relay that will kill a
relay supplied 12v source if the engine is not running.
Thats all I have after just 1 coffee.

Found a different way around it. The alarm can sense the voltage increase when the car is running. Just had to change some dip switches.

Has 12V out when engine running and Zero when stopped
