Default Borla LT1 Mufflers from Ecklers

I wanted to purchase the Borla SS LT1 replacement mufflers from Ecklers so that I can actually hear my corvette :) Can I get some feedback out there from some members that have bought these mufflers ?? I want to hear the exhaust and I like the look of the stainless lt1 outlets, but I dont want the resonance in the cockpit. Anyone out there using these ???

thanks

I'm not sure if I have the SS series or not.. but what I do have is the LT-1 Borla mufflers with the square LT1 tips. I would steer waaaay clear of getting the tips in this variety. I've had mine for a couple years and the construction is CHEAP and inexcusable for product costing mucho $$$. The tips are all cracked apart and the finish is deteriorated to below standard. The mirror finish that you see in the adds? Forget it! It doesn't exist new or old. I've used quad zero steel wool on mine and it doesn't help much. If I had to do it over again, I'd do the dual tipped "intercooled" outlet mufflers from Borla.

I have the Borla with the polished LT1 tips on mine. No problems as of yet. I've had them on there for about 3 years, but my car doesn't do any bad weather or winter duty either. I had the intercooled tips on my '85. This was an everyday car, I put about 80,000 miles on it before I had a weld break on the hanger and Borla replaced the muffler with about a 2 week downtime. ( I saved the stock mufflers just in case ) Anyways, so far so good. As far as the resonance goes, I have the whole Borla XR1 race system with no resonator, free flow cats, and headers, and it still isn't too bad. If I wanted a quiet car I'd buy a Saturn. :seeya

I've been running Borla's with the inter- cooled tips for 9 yrs. Also, I think my headers deepen the sound a bit. If you want quite in the cockpit, stay away from these as they are on the noisy side. I love the sound but it's not for everyone. :D

The LT1 style tips on mine were broke when they came out of the box. For $500 they should be made better. I'd go with the inter cooled tips next time. I like the deep sound but the wife says they are too noisy at hwy speeds. Definitely doesn't sound like a Buick any more.

I had them for a miserable half year and was extremely unhappy with the fit and quality, not to mention the ridiculous resonance. Forget 6th gear on the highway unless you're doing 80+ mph. Can't even imagine these on an automatic. Just my 2 cent warning.
