Oil Pump

This is my first rebuild on a Lt1. I have a 1993 and when dropping the motor i saw that there is a open whole above the oil pump. I believe i reattached all sensor...What is this?? and why is there a very small threaded whole above that. Please help, i could be finished today if i can solve this

Where exactly is this hole? "Above the oil pump"- the oil pump is in the pan- is this hole in the crankcase?

if you mean oil filter, its the oil temp sender
