drivetrain trouble

So in first gear the car works fine all the way to 5k rpm but in second gear at 3k rpm the car kinda shutters and will barely keep climbing in rpm it does the same in forth and in forth overdrive it happens just over 2k rpm and uphill makes it worse Its a 4+3 and the overdrive unit probably hasnt been serviced in awhile because the fill plug was stripped bad and I just got that settled. So is this the overdrive unit going out and how much is that or how hard is it to rebuild. My car is an 86 with 91000 miles

Uni joints maybe?

Is your clutch slipping? Sounds similar to a clutch going out to me.

No....then it would be RPM increase with no increase in speed.

the problem is no power/misfire under load - Many causes. Pull codes, do tune up, check injectors, etc.

I have a feeling it is the U joints
