Default Replacing ICM

Can anyone outline the easiest way to replace the ignition control module on 86 ?

Do I just need to pull plug wires, coil, and cap ? Will this give me access to ICM ?

If anyone has suggestions, guidance , pics it would be much appreciated.
( do not want to mess with timing )

This is the "executive summary" version of this procedure (obvious steps left out):

Remove plug wires #2, #7 & #5 on the driver's side of the distributor cap. Mark the wires so you get them back in the right places afterward. That will let you take the cap off and lay it on the passenger side of the distributor out of the way with most of the plug wires still attached.

After that it's pretty straightforward. After you take the rotor off it will be pretty obvious what needs to be done. Take off parts and disconnect things until you can get the module out.

When you put the new module in make sure to put the grease supplied with the module on the metal area on the bottom of the module. It conducts the heat out of the module into the body of the distributor.

Timing is not involved in this procedure.

What Cliff said. Why are you replacing the ICM? Do you know for sure it is bad?
