I'm going to look at a 91 6speed. My 88 was an automatic, so I've got a question. I called the guy and he said the car had a clutch done. My issue is the car only has 40,000 miles. He said when he did the clutch, the mechanic said that DMFW's aren't availible and instead he installed a "spectra" clutch kit. Is there a such thing? I was thinking there was a confusion with "spec" but until I can go look at it and see the receipts I'm not sure, and curiosity is killing me. I'm assuming he went to a single mass and new clutch, but I never heard of that company.
The car is pretty far away, and I get nervous when i see the ZF6 isn't stock. Any insight?
Spec makes a SMF which is balanced exactly like a stock DMF and it is almost perfect regarding the noise made when a fz6 is mated to a SMF. This was made for the zf6 c4 vettes.
Bad driver slipping the crap out of the clutch mod. That would be the only was I would expect a clutch to die after 40k. Or the FW just crapped out and started leaking the mysterious black goo.
Yeah that was another concern. My dad talked to him again and he does think it's a SPEC clutch, but i can double check his receipts. When i go down to look at it I'll ask about why it has a clutch replacement. Thats a lot of clutch slipping to replace it at 44k miles.
