Hey Guys,
My buddy has a 1993 LT-1 Auto. KOEO (enging stone cold) both fans start up but the car won't start. Key off then back to 'on' fans not running and engine starts. We chased the rest of the fan system and it is in good working order, relays etc. So put his prom into another ECM and it does the same thing. We are now thinking a bad prom.
Can his be reflashed? If not, where can we get another one?? Any ideas?
Thanks
If your using a stock prom and it is causing a problem then the only way around it would be to replace it. I'm no expert when it comes to the LT1 ECM's though.
Have you read the ECM for any error codes. I beleive code 52 (from memory) is Prom Error.
It could if you can find someone with the the right equipment to erase and reprogram ( was old skool way )
Current way is to install EEPROM on a custom adapter
Online tuners like PCMforless and other will do a stock tune or any mods you want, like VATS delete , lower fan temps , etc
sounds like on first turn of the key the ecm and i think its called the ccm are not seeing each other. if the digital gages read lo when the fans r running and no start this could be the problem. could be as simple as a bad ground on the ccm. dunno. good luck
Up date.....it turned out to be a bad ECM. Since we couldn't locate a known good replacment, we put in a stand alone aftermarket unit for the fans bypassing the ECM completely.
