im thinking of swapping my six speed zf trans for an auto 460le.... and i know ill get beating up on here for doing so( real corvettes have six speeds... blah blah blah) im just gettig tired of shifting, just wanna punch it and go. anyhow i m thinking of buying a trans out of a 95 vette here locally and was wondering what needs to be done to complete this project besises the obvious... trans, lines shifter , cable stuff like that. what else am i in for ? does the computer need to be reflashed for this to work ? anything anyone could contribute would be very helpful. and also what do you think would be a fair asking price for the whole zf trans set up ( blue tag ) ? thanks guys
First thing off the top of my head, is I believe driveshaft yoke is different, I think exhaust is different, Wiring is different, I know you need an ECM flash at a mininum.
The "E" in 4L60E is for electronic. The trans is controlled by a computer. I don't know if it is a separate box or part of the ECM. Somebody more knowledgeable than I will have to supply that info.
You will need the wiring harness for the transmission and a C beam, shifter and cable, throttle valve cable, brake pedal, flex plate, and other stuff I can't think of offhand. Hopefully all that will come out of the donor car.

IIRC the PCM (Powertrain control module) has all the controls for the trans.
E version has no TV cable
C beam and driveshaft are the same.
Just need a reg 27 spline GM yoke (PG /TH350 /T700 ) for the trans end
Went from a 4+3 to a 4l60e on my 84. I used a TCI stand alone computer. If you have a late model C4 you can probably get a reflash done with your original computer.
In addition to everything else you will probably also want to change your rear end ratio. It is a doable swap, but is also fairly complex. Are you planning to do the work yourself?

Base on blue-tag ZF I guess you have a 94-96 and a reflash should fix the computer... in process of doing the reverse. As the tunnels are different you will have to do some fab work.
Actually, if the op has a fsm it's fairly strightforward. Bolt in and bolt out with a few part and wiring changes. I'm a dentist and tackled it years ago.

yeah im doing the work myself... not planning on changeing the rear end though.
i do need to get a fsm, im sure that will help
With an auto trans stock rear end ratio is 2.59 with 3.07 being the only option, which is called the performance rear or something like that. The rear in your car now is a 3.45 if I am remembering correctly. The good news though is you have the more valuable D44 rear.
It will be a lot of work and money, but at least you won't have to pull the engine.
I'll swap you. Where do you live and do you have a spare sofa or bedroom. I'm always down for a road trip. I just had mine rebuilt with all the goodies inside to handle upwards of 600-750 horsepower. I've even got the good torque converters. Your choice of an Edge racing converter 3800 or a Yank 3200. Both are the little converters and I'll say they are equal in quality. I'll even swap the PCM and the harness for the tranny.
Is it hard to mount the pedals in an automatic. I'm sure it's easier to take them out than put them in.
Sounds like 1963ss has a good deal for u. That's the route I would go. I have 9.5 3000-3200 stall with 3.45 d44 great combo. Helped me get to 11.59 ets
