Alright just to keep you all posted-Ive already got everything needed to do the front C5 upgrade including new rotors and Hawk pads. Also have stainless lines. Just ordered a complete brake cable set. Hopefully my calipers dont need to be replaced.
Did you get the custom bias spring for the brake proportioning valve? Without the spring, the C5 brakes will overpower the rears and ABS will go nuts. When I did the C5 upgrade on my 87, I would get ABS activation at less than 50 braking force. Added the Doug Rippie spring and now ABS engages when it should.
I'm using Z06-specific pads in front and Hawk HP+ in the rear. It's a good autocross setup and works for local area track days where heavy braking is not a big issue. I'm using ATE Super Blue for fluid. You should be able to find that locally.
Many, many years ago, my Dad was stationed at Idar-Oberstein and I remember going to Baumholder because of the larger commissary and PX. That's a very nice part of Germany especially along the Mosel. We visited lots of weinstubes up and down the river.
I see they have the bias spring in abs, non abs and C5. Do I go with abs or C5?
Get the C4 with ABS. The non-ABS spring is for 84-85 cars as they didn't have ABS. When I installed my spring, I didn't even have to take the master cylinder off the car and there was hardly any loss of brake fluid.

Thanks, I figured itd be that one since I know 88 has abs just wanted to varify that there wasnt a chance itd be the C5 though. Hows the install on this peice?

Follow the instructions that come with it. They are clear and include enough illustrations to make it easy. IIRC you do need a snap ring pliers though. I was replacing my master so I did it on the new one before I installed it. Was real easy that way

The instructions are pretty good. The snap ring is pretty small and if it should pop off the pliers. it can fly some distance. IIRC, the snap ring is something like a 1/2" wide or so. Find a large box and cut the top and one side off and turn the box upside down. Place a white towel in the box so the ring will be easy to see if it pops off.
