man, it sure cleans up the engine area... car seems to run a little better too... maybe that's cuz i also took off the frisbee.
i used 1/2" brass caps from Lowes (thanks for the idea Lee) to cap off stuff at the exhaust manifold and everything came off so easy i cna't believe i didn't do it sooner!!
Greg made me a little block off plate for the air pump, i guess i might take the pump off and gut it when i get the chance, should make it so that it'll just spin freely.
oh, yeah... no codes yet!!
I thought they were toughening up therir stance on emissions out East? Hope it works out okay for you. Put it back on if you have to report for an emissions test...
i kept all the stuff, but we don't have emissions tests here... they're supposed to do a visual during annual state safety inspection but i know somebody who does the inspections... lots of "illegal" stuff on my cars...
i also have a 98 jeep wrangler with 9" of lift and 38's that isn't really "legal" for VA either...
yeah, looks funny sitting like that... LOL where are all the stupid hoses etc. that come out of the air diverter thing-a-ma-bob? my passenger side spark plugs will be much easier to change!!
No problem Sonny. I went up to Abacus this morning and bead blasted the air pump and a few other things. Then I had to take the pump back apart and clean the 5lbs of media out of it.
...the air pump system that heats up the catalytic converters.
Can you elaborate on how the air system actually heats the cat  I thought it was, in part, there for adding air to the second stage of the cat for conversion efficiancy...

You are correct. I have never heard the heating up part. As far as I know the added oxygen allows the combustion to continue throughout the exhaust producing as little waste as possible.
yeah, yeah... same thing... i guess it would more accurately be referred to as anti-smog equipment or the air pump system...
but now it's referred to as "GONE!!!!" LOL :D :D
and the EGR stuff is next...
i believe the system does "heat" the cats by injecting air... like a lil blast furnace or blowing air on campfire coals... causes more complete combustion of exhaust gasses.
