Alright, this may be a long shot but I'll ask anyway. When I start my car up in the morning, at idle, there's this strange noise that seems to come from under the pass. side rear. It sounds more like a slapping sound and progressively gets louder as the RPMs go up. It seems that it has something to do with the exhaust. If I open up the pass. side rear compartment, the noise seems that it's coming directly underneath that, but I don't see anything that can possibley cause a noise at that spot. One thing I do know is that the noise disappears as the car warms up . I must stop this noise because it's freaking annoying:mad . Anyone have any ideas?
Exhaust is hitting the bottom of the differential.
Good suggestion:) , I didn't think about that. I adjusted the rear y-pipe a little lower. I'll postthe results tomorrow morning . The only thing that doesn't make sense is that the noise goes away as the car warms up.
Look at the heat shields on your cats also there is a tube that connects to the exhaust I am not sure what it does but it could also be the problem.
Cats? What cats? :D. I did check the tube on my test pipe which I replaced my cat with, but didn't see anything wrong there.
your cat could be breaking up & once its warmed up it will not rattle. if it is your cat eventually you will overheat & loose horse power. try kicking your exhaust when its cold if it rattles you either have a loose heat shield or the cat is breaking apart within??? p.s thanks for the guage pod & guage..they arrived in perfect condition as promised.

Hey Eric,
Glad you like the guage and pod :) BTW, I don't have cats :yesnod:
I just posted a similar question, then read your thread. We might have the same problem. Read my post. It's driving me crazy too!!!!!!! Let me know if you find the source and I will let you know if I do.

Yep, read your post and it sounds like we do have the same problem. A couple days ago I stuck my head underneath the car and did notice the sound may be coming from the tranmission area. Hmmm, very puzzling
