383 throttle follower issue
If i am drive and push the clutch in to stop say from 35 MPH the idle will hunt untell i stop and then it will hunt for about 1 min then the idle will smooth out.
im sure its somewere in the tune but im not sure what direction i need to go any ideas?
thank you for your help.
The throttle follower works by opening the IAC valve as you press down on the gas pedal. The purpose is to prevent the engine from stalling if you suddenly release the gas pedal and go to idle, which would cause the throttle blades to slam shut, cutting off the air. The throttle following mode has a "decay" value that gradually closes the IAC valve over time. I don't remember offhand if a large decay value means the IAC closes in big STEPS or a small decay value means there is a short TIME between decay steps.
My car is an '86 automatic, so the code is BUA. I don't know how the code handles a manual transmission, which is obviously quite different from an auto. I see some stuff related to DFCO and TPS Follower Gains that might be what you're looking for. Also there is mention of Stall Saver parameters that might be applicable.
I zoomed around in the code and it looks like it's a parameter called Trajectory Decay, which is in the TPS Follower Gains area. It's a TIME between steps.
I also found another parameter in the PID area that inhibits TF mode unless the TPS is over a certain percentage. I guess that could mess you up if it's too small.
Sorry I couldn't be more specific. Hopefully this will give you a better idea of where to look.
