spring recommendations
I want to go to stiff mono springs for autoxing. Still have the soft stock and after looking at some pics of my car in action It is not planting well in the tight turns, any recommendations? Btw, don't want to go to coilovers, it would put me up 2 classes.

Where would changing springs, shocks and sways put you as far as classing?
The VBP stuff seems to be what folks upgrade to if they don't go coilover.
I'm going to try one more year with the monosprings and if handling doesn't improve I'll be going coilover and trying to find points elsewhere to stay in the same class.
I have a couple of different springs I'm going to try and some different shocks.
In your case maybe a bigger front bar, different shock valving and a heavier spring would be the ticket.

Are you on FE3 now?
How are your times? (e.g top 15% in class)
What tires and what pressures are you running?
What class are you running? (SCCA?)
Sorry for many questions but more to it than just springs.......

Pretty good bite, understeer just when I push it too much. Just on stock suspension, 99% of the time I take first in my class[last two years I have won first place for the season] which is stock [C Stock] & am usually in the top 5% of the next class up [C1]. Running Kumho's XS, hope this helps. When looking at pics of me running the rear of the apex side is pretty dam high, in one a third of my rear tire was off the ground.

Kimmer, since you live in the area, I think I have my stock 84 Z51 stiffest springs in the world up above my garage rafters. They have been there since the car was 2 years old. I will guarantee you will corner flat. If I still have them and you want them, you can have them. Willie

The suspension changed in 1988. The '84 front spring won't fit the '92. The rear may fit...

The rear will fit. I believe the fronts don't interchange, at least not without significant mods, but double check that.
Solofast put up a nice post about spring rates and one thing he noted was that the stock 84 z51 actually had a smaller bar and the rear still jacked. (I believe it has to do with overloading the roll center... can't quite remember now) . So you may even need to run rear bars off if you run that spring.
I'm going to try an nyu 87 z51 first with my 26 rear bar and then if I still want more spring I'll try the 84 z51. Hopefully I'll be seeing you at this events.
Kimmer if you can't use that 84 front and Willie you need a home for it, let me know.

Kimmer, are you running SCCA rules, if so you should be B Stock.
SCCA rules for Solo (to me) look like this, for your 92 the only mod you could do is to spec. the car to Z07 package components. Front Bar 30mm, the front and rear springs,FX3 shock package, etc...
I too am base springs w/FX3, I am going to try to go to Z07 specs. I had a discussion with another member, and I'll see if I can find it, but VBP makes the exact spring rate that the 92-95 Z07 package had.

Try the Z51 spring on the rear.....but you may not be happy unless you match with Z51 front.
I haven't run my Vette yet (still needs a few things first). I have been running a 135i in STU since 2008. I am on XS's, AST coilovers, and just went back to stock sways (had Hotchkis). I am damn quick but the Subys and EVOs are still killing me on the National Tour events.

Kimmer I have a line on some front springs for late model c4s I couldn't use, one of which is similar but just a bit stiffer than the 84 z51 and would be a good match to the rear. PM me if you want the guys email.

Try this first before you go to new springs- go with 32mm front anti-roll bar and 26mm rear anti-roll bar. If you are currently runniung stock bars, you will notice a big difference. Of course, if you are running NCCC, this will move you up to Group 2 which is a fun group to run. Along with the anti-roll bars, get an autox alignment. I wouldn't waste the money on coil overs.
