Default anyone make 1 7/8" headers for ltx corvette?

Ill take a step back and say I am SURE someone makes 1 7/8" headers for the LSx, heck prob 2" headers for the LSx, but what about for LTx?

Im aware of TPIS, Exotic Muscle, and now ARH (stepped) 1 3/4" primary headers for LTx..

But what about 1 7/8" ?

Anybody do it?

ARH has a version that are stepped from 1-3/4 to 1-7/8
EM used to sell a race C4 header. I'm pretty sure that was 1-7/8. You should give them a call to see if they're still available.

what is a stepped header?

How is that better than one that is 1 7/8" the whole way thru?

I did find this from EM.

Does anyone know of anyone else that makes 1 7/8" headers for corvette lt1?

The ARH stuff is great and I am thrilled they chose to support us.

However, the other companies come out with wimpy 1 5/8" lt1 headers for c4. Do they think c4's are a joke and people buy headers for looks or something?

A stepped header gives the best of both worlds. The smaller primaries at the head increases exhaust gas velocity which empties the port and combustion chamber. The increased size past the first few inches decreases restriction throughout the header. Also, 1 7/8 headers might not bolt directly onto the ltx head and might require a plate.

Chris, Rick, the stepped 1 7/8 sections start about 8" from the header flange. The overall length compared to the ahookers sitting in my garage seems about the same. The primaries are an inch or two shorter with the ARH headers but the merged collector of the ARH is a couple of inches longer. Hope this helps. Willie

Thanks Willie! How are the underhood temps with those headers?

Rick, I think most come in around 27", and I think that is often more dictated by tunnel shape, cat placement and exhaust systems than necessarily performance first.

Hey Chris, the possible increase in underhood temperatures with these ARH headers vs a coated set don't really affect me. I get the fluid temperatures up and I'm off for a 10.5 second run. They are not coated so for a street car, they may be higher than a coated set. My 08Z has the naked ARH ss finish (gets kind of ugly after a while), but temperatures haven't been a problem there either. Willie

Due to the space between the bolts, the only way would be the dual header plate with the different bolt pattern.

EM sells the stepped headers

My build is right on the verge of needing them.

Talked to them about it before getting the ones I did.

If you go with TPIS, be sure to hook up everything while observing alignment to head. Also, see if all runners have obstructive weld bead. I spent a day getting mine cleaned up and aligned. This was several years ago and perhaps they are better with quality control but check them out really close before you start putting any extra work into them.
