I have a gap that runs from a 1/4" to a 1/2" front to back, between the drivers side bumper and drivers side hood area. This area is just above the drivers side, side marker light. What seems to have happened is the section of the bumper that forms the lower portion of the drivers side wheel well has dropped a 1/2 inch.
Is this easy to adjust, or might I have problems possibly with a bent mounting bracket?
Re: BODY PANEL ALIGNMENT ???(front bumper) (Kizmo)
When I upgrade my front bumper cover. I've noticed that there are shims (front and back) and adjustment on the metal bumper (Right, left, up and down). The bolts are hard to get to with the front cover on.
Re: BODY PANEL ALIGNMENT ???(front bumper) (Kizmo)
Kiz,
I have an idea what youre talking about...Im guessing that the inside front splash panel in front of the tire and goes under the nose may be cracked on the bottom, causing that drop you see.
Check for that problem. They can crack because of the low front air dam that is bolted under there, connects to the bottom panel.I have cracked mine before when it got brittle from age and etc.
Another thing you can do is loosen the torx bolts that the bumper connects to the splash sheild and see if you can raise it a little more and tighten it down.
Sometimes if the bumper moved, you will see the old circle marks from where the bolts USED to be seated...if not,im guessing the panel/shield cracked somewhere.
Look under and inside the bumper area and see if anything is off.Do check the brackets and check to see if any on the sides have bent from an light impact.
One last possibility is the bumper is warped from age and heat.Mine is and wont align up anymore on that side.It kinda curves in and out causing a gap.Its not that noticable now though. All C4's have factory urethane bumpers and they all warp with time and climate.
Let me know what you find.
:)
