sealing 86 oil pan

Has anyone tried bypassing the oil pan gasket and using a good sealant instead? I had a small leak in the rear of the pan. Im also using a Canton oil pan.

I use the right stuff on my one piece gasket that is suppose to be dry. I have found that the Chevy engine likes to leak/seap oil no matter what. But the right stuff seems to cure it.
Nothing wrong with a good sealant.

Trick is to allow the sealant a chance to dry at least 24 hours before running!!!

I was thinking of not using the gasket and instead only using the sealant like they do on Toyotas. I had a HELL of a time getting that pan on.

...only if you like oil leaks. Use the gasket and a little bit of the Right Stuff as suggested above.

in the back of my mind i knew it wasnt right. Ok ill pull it off tonight and start over. thanks for the info.
