Default Axle back or Cat back

I have a LT4 engine. I am looking for a little extra noise as the stock system is almost dead quiet.

I am looking at the Magnaflow cat back 16837. Installed would be around $700. Not too crazy about the over sized round tail pipes; wished it were 4inch oval instead. For the same price, I could get axle backs from borla and have a nice looking quad tip with comparable sound quality.

I went to several respectable performance exhaust shops in my area; each one told me that the LT4 setup from manifold to the muffler is pretty efficient and flows well for a stock unit...axle back would all that I would need. Now if I was going to install long tube headers, then they would recommend the cat back. Either way, the axle back or cat back would not yield much in performance...just sound a whole lot better; especially since I intend on keeping the stock exhaust manifold and cats.

Is the LT4 interim pipe (resonator & 'H' pipe) comparable to the aftermarket counter parts? If so, then axle backs would be the way to go for my needs?

So pretty non-restrictive. Can save some money by not having to purchase aftermarket X pipe or resonator system and keep the stock unit in place.
