Default A few little problems need help

Ok just bought a 90 convertible, it has a few gremlins but is susposed to have 37000 on it. but first problem none of the switches to undo decklid work what would be causing it relays? also wipers wont stop it must be a bad relay because i pull fuse and put back in and they stop so where is the relay for them? also there are some relays on drivers side right next to radiator and there is a ball of wires there that i have no idea what they go to but one is cut.

who ever had is must have never put the top up it needs a cleaning which it will get these are what i am running into for now i know i will have some more questions so thanks for your help.

Since I have an '86 coupe I can't be 100% sure how much of this applies to you...

When you press the decklid release button(s) you should be able to hear the relay clicking (even if the solenoid isn't working). If you don't, it might be a circuit breaker. On my car the contacts aren't tight and the circuit breaker for my hatch falls out about every 6 months. (Since my dash is now apart that's going to get fixed soon). The circuit breakers are located on the front of the fuse panel (little silver guys).

Electrical gremlins are really tough to figure out remotely by others. My advice is to go buy a Helms feild service manual. Best $90 you can spend. Sometimes you see them for sale on this forum or flea-bay used for less. Then get a good volt ohm meter.

Unfortunately, these 21 year old cars were sometime tinkered with and you get little jewels like ***** of wires that go nowhere that the last a$$wipe never removed properly. Best you can do is trace them back, figure ot what they were for and clean them up.

Have you checked all of the fuses?

You can't do this without gettings a FSM to show you where everything is and what it does. The electrical drawings are a book by themselves.

Find the fuse/breakers for the top bow release.

wipers are self contained. The timers and stops are inside the wiper motor assy. Its a circuit board, not a physical relay. There is the fuse, not much else besides the variable switch.

Those relays that you see are probably the fan relay, fuel pump and whatever other engine control system is right there.
This is where you need the books....NOT a $19 chitlins manual...or haynes, a REAL GM written Factory Service Manual. Its gonna be around $100 used as others have stated...the price of knowing how to work on a Corvette.
Good Luck

Try pulling the wiper motor elec plugs off and cleaning. There are 3 plugs, 1 to motor bottom and 2 to the control box on the top side. Mines will do that too...it'll loose the intermittent function for days then it reappears when it likes. The circuit board inside gets dirty or damp and starts acting up. Common issue. If you;re brave enough, pull the motor and the back cover and spray it out with elec cleaner. Reaseal and install and see what happens. Might want to find a replacement on flea-bay before proceeding, just in case... Call it...plan B, not pessimism.

That could also be a switch problem....those are simple but can wear out as well. That might benefit from a douch too.

Go to www.helminc.com for a Factory Service Manual (FSM). It's huge, so, I bought a couple of 4 inch ring binders.

As for the deck lid problem, you could check the yellow button under the lid for voltage coming in and going out. It could have dirty contacts (from not being used) or it could be bad (the reason it wasn't used). Just a suggestion.
I would also suggest that you take the seats out. Remove the two black covers on the front ends of the seat frame, the four nuts on the studs, unplug the seat motor, and just lift out. It sure makes maneuvering a lot easier, especially, if/when you have to do any work under the dash.

Just trying to help.
