Can somebody please help i have just bought a 1991 (L98) vette from England and had it shipped to Menorca an island off the south east coast of Spain where i live. The emissions of the car are too high to pass the test required here in Spain. Having looked at the car and read the Haynes manual I can see that someone has removed the EGR system completely and fitted some blank off plates. Although the AIR pump is still in place there are no hoses from the pump and no electrical
connections. Just in front of the Valves before it goes into the tube that leads to the exhaust manifold someone has sealed both sides by pushing a piece of copper tube sealed with solder into a short piece of cut off hose attached with hose clamps, obviously to stop exhaust gas escaping from the tube that goes into the manifold.
Without the AIR pump and EGR system being restored to "stock" My vette has a real problem passing the emission test for Spain.
Can anybody help me who has a "stock" L98 preferably 1991 vette with some pictures showing what hoses, solonoids, electrical connections etc that i need to replace to get it back to how it was. I would be really gratefull for some detailed photos or a list of parts or any knowledge anyone has about these two areas.
Thanks from a Vette fan living in Spain
Martin 1991
no beag deal with EGR and AIR.
Mine does not have them and pass emission hands down.
Have your car tuned, new plugs, plug wires ect.
replace de 3 stock catalytic converters with anew tech one and you will pass emission.
If you can't do as frenchy says and get it clean with a tune up;
I have the complete setup (engine parts) you can have for the post cost from Australia.
Be glad to see it go to a good home

I have a 12 year collection of unneeded parts I am reluctant to dump because "someday" ,
someone may want to restore a car to stock and alot of the OE stuff like unique fasteners/ brackets/etc are only available from wrecking yards
I have worked on 1st Gen F-Bodies and the cost of small repo parts is stupid ( but at least they are available).
Would give parts to guys in US but postage prohibitive; in this case OP has to pay post , regardless of were they come from so more viable

Hi rodj that sounds great are the parts definately ok for a 91 L98 and do you have a list of all the bits you have, some photos would be fantastic. do you have a rough idea what the post cost would be from Australia and do you know where i could find some pictures showing what goes where and how it should look. I am not a mechanic but have a mate who is pretty handy, unfortunately when the Haynes manual says "refitting is the reverse of removal" that does'nt help much if you never had any of the bits on the car in the first place!!!! Cheers and thanks again for the offer, vette people are the best. martin
