Remove the wheel well splash guards for better access. I have removed the a/c and alt to get to the drivers side before. Just easier, others will say you can get to them from below. PITA to do. Don't disconnect the refrigerant lines, just move it out of the way a bit to get the wires through the little area provided. Do one wire at a time to avoid confusion. Good luck. Put dielectric grease on boots, but not thick. Just enough to seal it up to prevent grounding out. :seeya :smash: :smash: :smash:
Why is it that every time you have to work on a vette that the directions start with "disassemble the entire car"? Ahh, the price of a compact package. Now I know why I like to work on my Tahoe.
kkonen you've got it right! I've owned several other "sports" cars and never had the PITA repair problems that this Vette ownership has dealt me. Don't get me wrong, I really love this car but it takes three to four times the labor to make any repairs and has turned into a major time drain. I think every job I've accomplished started with - step one, remove the engine from the engine bay......
All you have to remove is the waterpump and belt tensioner pully. I decided to change my wires when I flushed the cooling system on my 95. If you remove your air-conditioning unit, your going to have to recharge that. The water pump is much easier. :seeya
I just did mine. I removed the ac compressor ( NOT the refrigerant lines) and moved it out of the way. I unbolted the ASR module and moved it out of the way. The pass side was easy, The drivers side was a big pita! The plugs are laced in firing order 7,5,3,1. With one being the first wire to the front of the car, and seven the last. numbered the wires as I installed on my optispark, then was able to route the wires through. If its the first time you'll swear that its impossable. Once you get the wires on the opti and laced in order between the power steering pump and bracket it goes easy. I read that some people removed the inner fender, I didn't. You also have to go by feel alot installing the wires on the opti.
