Ok so my good friend is thinking about buying a LT1 corvette, he has a few questions that I cant answer maybe you guys can?
Heres what hes looking for. Automatic-or-Manual, great rear gears for a stock vette. Something that can handle for street competition without hurting his pocket. No intention for NOS, no turbo, no supercharger.
What he WANTS to do, exhaust, intake, upgrade & replace the valve train with new stock parts, with that said a possible camshaft swap(mid range power with top end)
Heres his questions:
Is there a particular years thats beneficial? Another words is there a 91-96 LT1 corvette that is better than any other LT1?
Should I go with Auto or stick shift?
Hes looking for something for the street, few bolt-ons, with a tune.
I know none of you guys will let me down
Thanks agian guys

Tell him to look for a 96 LT4/M6 instead. Otherwise the 95-96 have the much improved GenII optispark, 4L60E auto trans, and the J55 brakes are standard.

Should I go with Auto or stick shift? Depends on what your friend prefers.
Unless you're racing, there's no need to throw a ton of money at it.Originally Posted by Iown1badvette

cool, hes still here, I should have been more detailed with the "intake" I meant the air filter, K&N makes a neat air box for it that he likes, well thats good news, he only mentioned to upgrade the valve train because he feels it'll be necessary for the type of cam, possible 1.6 roller rockers? But he'll find out what type of cam he'll go with, but I guess the exhaust is the first an main upgrade which is good news Originally Posted by 92ragtop

My opinion is to buy an affordable one, drive it, and over time just build it the way you want it... The 91 is actually has the TPI which is great for torque and can be upgraded easily.... All LTX parts are interchangeable and can also be had for a reasonable price... Either way the C4s are the best cars on the planet for the price!
Peace out...
