Default Modification Direction !! Need Help !!

Hookers and B&B Tri-Flo on order, I still got $1000.00 to spend. What can I put this GRAND on that will do me the most good performence wise now ? Then what do I work on next ? Slow but steady pace. I want to put the right pieces in the right places that work well together, to make this monster GROWL. Bottom line is to get in the 12 s'. Just get in, high or mid just get in and be consistent thats the key. That's cat quick enough for me. If I get it quicker thats O.K. with me.

92 LT1 Coupe Auto, working on it !!

With a $1000.00 I would do a zip diff. 3.54 for $759.00 or get a decent converter Yank, or Vigilante. Performance wise on a stock 92 LT1 the exhaust is not the best place to start.

The question is do you want it to sound mean and make more HP or do you just want to make it faster?

If you just want faster 1/4 times you can install gears and a converter, they do wonders for Auto's. Now since you've got headers on the way with a healthy exhaust you can add a cam. The LT4 hot cam has a very healthy sounding idle, I've got some sound clips in my sig. It'll make some really good HP and may send you into the 12's.

I'm there with my hot cam, headers, exhaust. I can do it on bad 60' times, even a stock auto could best my 60'. My vote would be for the cam. There can be issuses with a cam and the stock converter, so you might want to change that anyway, that should throw you deep into the 12's.

If you haven't already, I would get a set of 3.73 gears put in, and if you have enough money left over, get a 2800-3000 rpm torque converter.

Well, i think i would get the hotcam kit from GM. If you dont feel like doing the cam and some head porting then go for the 2800 stall Vigilante and some 3.73 gears.

Nathan is very good with the LT1 and knows a lot about them. But it is my opinion that if you have a 2.59 GM1 rear end and a stock converter (1386rpm stall) then you need to work on those first to get it into the 12's. I could be wrong. At any rate Nathans combo has worked well. As a matter of fact, the hot cam and electric water pump (like he has ) is going to be my next mods after I finially get the converter installed.

Converter will provide excellent bang for the buck :yesnod:
Combine with a set of gears and drag radials and you have a proven 12 sec combination
