Default L98 knock ---- Possible balancer bad?
Hello, one member wrote me that a harmonic balancer may cause a knock sound. Anybody have history of this? My knock is not loud when cold, but is loud when hot.

Is there an easy way to spot a bad balancer?

A bad balancer is usually easy to spot just before it flies off!

Your timing marks will probably be off or inconsistent.

Yes it can cause a knock. Drive it too much and it can cause a bang. btdt.

When you pulled the motor apart to put new bearings in, what condition was the balancer?
If it was bad, you would have seen it.
