Unfortunately my BCM or CCM has to be replaced. And I want to make sure the if I replace it that I can reflect the correct mileage on the new BCM. Is it possible to reflect the correct mileage on the new BCM. And if so how do i reprogram it?
Mileage can be set on a NEW CCM within the first 100 miles using a Tech1 scan tool loaded with the appropriate software cartridge. Once a CCM/BCM has accumulated 100 miles it becomes locked and cannot be adjusted.
I am told but have not confirmed that the Tech 2 replacement for the Tech 1 cannot make the mileage adjustment, so make sure the dealer has what you need. Tech 1's are considered obsolete by most dealers at this point.
I have a Tech 1 with the necessary software, if all else fails send me a PM and I will try to help.
The BCM/CCM not only holds the mileage, but it also has the VIN programmed in. If a car came with the FX3 suspension or Z07 suspension, the FX3 codes are stored in the CCM.
A used BCM could be installed but whatever values are in there cannot be changed unless the unit is sent out for a reman. Most BCM's currently available are reman units. But then it comes back with no data so you are still back having to have the unit programmed.
