A question about a c4 replacement battery
The Chilton repair manual states: "The slow increase in electrical resistance over time makes it prudent to install a new battery with a greater capacity than the old."
My question is just how much "greater capacity" and is it possible to install a TOO MUCH GREATER CAPACITY that would damage the starter or other electronic components?????

Price is the governing factor.
Some folks buy an inexpensive battery and are prepared to replace the battery every one or two years.
Others buy a premium battery and are "good to go" for several years.
Interstate Batteries has many places to warranty the battery. Almost every repair shop in the US carries Interstate.
The auto parts stores (Advance, Autozone, Pep Boys, O'Reillys etc.) also have good coverage as far as the warranty.
The length of warranty (2 years, 3 years, 4 years, 5 years, 6 years) determines the amount of electrical power and the price.
Hope this helps you in your search!

Unless you have a lot of extra electronic equipment over what was installed by the factory (audio system for example) a battery that meets the factory CCA numbers will work fine. Of course you can also get a Group 75 battery with the highest CCA you can find and it will work too.
I would question the Chilton's manual for anything especially if it's one of those $15 rags you find on a magazine rack at a chain auto supply place. No better than a Haynes manual.
Nothing at all wrong with an Interstate battery. Good warranty service if needed and they will last a long time.
