hey guys, i am installing a new tranny in my 1994 and i was going to put a qt of fluid in my vigilante converter and it doesn't seem to go down just fills the snout up and sits there.
I drained whatever was in there,at least I thought it would drain sitting upside down in my drain pan for a day.
This is my first auto r&r and I can't afford to screw it up,I read somewhere that I should put a qt in the converter and 4qts in the pan and start it up and put the rest in,is this correct any help would be appreciated. thanks

If your old trans blew up then your convertor likely is contaminated. If it is you should send it in to the maker for cleaning. It is just about impossible to do this at home.

I was only able to get 1/2 quart in my new convertor. If you have a stock depth pan run the car for about 15 seconds and shut down, check the level and add as needed.
trans didn't blow up just lost 1-2 clutch packs,I did think about it but precision industries is closed for the holidays, I will change the filter after a few hundred miles.
I wasn't sure how much fluid it would take, since i don't have a lot of experience with autos. thanks for the help.
