no but one of the best engine builders in the country lives next to us, look up dan hutchins over in SW portland, guy does nasty work and a lot of comp eliminator cars. no one in the state i know of can touch this guy, also has reasonable prices. i'm rebuilding my bottom end, balanced and blueprinted for under 1500. in your case you'll need a core, try portland engine rebuilders, also scat makes a nearly bomb proof crank for $250, eagle rods are $220 and i picked up some speed pro hyper pistons for $82 the other day {retail is like $189} forged are about 300 if nitrous is in your future. also if your heads are shot edelbrock makes a emissions legal bolt on that flow a good deal better. or if you want to spend a little more and buy a miniram the AFR 190 would just scream if you cam it...oooooookay i'll stop before i go off on engine ideas that have already been discussed

Thanks for the contact. I took the Vette to Majhor-Murray Ltd in Portland on 15 April 2002. The engine's been rebuilt by Portland Engine Rebuilders and is almost finished being reinstalled into the body.
I took the car to one other shop before taking it to Bruce's shop but all they did was tell me something was broken in the lower part of the engine. Like I didn't know that already thank you! :cuss
Everything has been replaced including a 2 year old Edlbrock <-spelling water pump that I installed. I think that pump started to leak at the weep hole off and on for the past 6 months that I drove the car. Of course it's out of warnt.. I'm getting a 3 year 50,000 mile garentee so I can't kick.
I was going to go the ZZ4 route but decided to have Bruce rebuild the engine. The cost comes out to be about the same. Only time will tell how good or bad of a choice that I've made.
I had a Buick V6 crank break once. It did not hurt anything else, so I just replaced the crank and bearings and the engine ran fine for years and years afterward.
probably good, portland engine rebuilders has some pretty modern stuff. also know what they are doing in the perf. div. i'm sending them my bottom end here pretty soon, can't beat em for the $
something broke on mine on Tuesday, not sure yet. Could be the crank, could be a connecting rod. I drained the chocolate milk...I mean oil and the coolant on Friday. I'm getting quotes on for a rebuild and for a new ZZ4. I new engine would be cool because then I could play with the L98 at my leisure and learn a few things. :jester
I got my Vette back yesterday and I just finished putting on my 500 miles initial break-in. What a sweet engine this is going to be. It's really strong and really smooth. Portland Engine Rebuilders did the machine work and the balance. The engine is better now than it was when it was new. It's stonger, more torque. Makes this a whole new car. It even handles better and I think that because of taking the engine out and putting it back in and getting everything lined up again. This is going to be a fun summer! :yesnod:
