Default Header Install on a 95 LT1..

Thinking about putting a set of shorty headers onto my '95 LT1...had 138k miles on it.

For anyone that has done this with the engine in the car can you tell me:
1) is there enough room to get the exhaust manifold bolts out?
2) the chances of breaking one of the exhaust manifold bolts in the head?

Just wondering since I still have everything off from the flywheel on back...so I have a little extra room.

Thanks

James has it right. There is a chance of a bolt breaking. Start spraying it with PB Blaster now and in a couple of days your chances will be better of not breaking one.

Didn't soak any bolts in my 95 and all came out with no problems. Even after 220k miles.

Shorty's will give you little to no hp gain. Not worth the time imo... Even LTs don't give much until you add other complimenting mods. That said, my bolts came out with little problem, but I soaked them overnight with PB Blaster.

I will not be putting any shorty headers on....there is not enough time to get the headers here and installed before next Sat and I pretty much agree that there is no gain. I was just going to do this since I have the transmission and clutch out.

I also thought about putting a Hurst short shifter in. Sure would be easier with the trans out....but again out of time.

Thanks for all the replies.
